1st Graders “Slimed” in Science Lab

First graders made their own slime in Science Lab. Each student had their own ingredients to use, they picked out the color they wanted their slime to be, and then they used their hands to “mix” the solution together to form slime. Everyone had a great time and enjoy using their hands to create their Slime!

Community Leader Breakfast

On Wednesday, October 15th, The Bodine School held our annual Community Leader Breakfast. Each of our 82 students hosted a special guest for breakfast and a tour of the school. Visitors saw their student’s art work, learned about their school day, and experienced what it is like to be dyslexic in the Dyslexia Simulation Lab, all while sharing information about their roles in the community. Guests ranged from politicians to military personnel and firefighters to CEOs. What an exciting opportunity for students and guests to learn about each other’s worlds!

1st Grade Photostory Project

The first graders have been working hard in their classroom and the computer lab to create a Photostory project. Each student took a different animal from the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr., and illustrated it using KidPix software. The illustrations were put together using Microsoft Photostory 3, and then the students recorded their voices reading the words from the story. The finished product is fantastic!

Go Jim Go!

The Student council of The Bodine School voted to raise money for LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center. They chose to have a coin collection and sold homework passes and dress passes. The students raised over $400 from the sale of the passes. Emma G. (1st) and Carter W. (4th) each collected $100.00 in coins. The students met Jim Jaggers on his bike ride to raise money. We presented him a check for $1,308.63. The students cheered him on and were filmed for a broadcast on News channel 3. Check out the photos on the news channel 3 website, click on “weather” and “GO Jim GO”. Click on the picture of the camera and we are featured on “Day Seven.” Thanks to the many families who supported this effort to raise money for Le Bonheur!
